GL Sciences' UltraFast Kits transform any HPLC into a UHPLC grade instrument.


Transforming “standard” gradient HPLC systems into extremely fast gradient systems is readily achievable with proper application of chromatographic principles and using advanced HPLC columns and a new temperature control system. You don't have to change your LC to go fast!

The quest to pursue “ultra” fast LC separations is gaining momentum as the result of recent product introductions to address this need. These new products claim to deliver the same separations while using 5–10 fold less time. What may be lesser known is that routine performance of “ultra” fast separations can be achieved using many of the ordinary main stream HPLCs that one may already have available. Achieving this level of performance is simply a matter of knowledge of the separation principles involved and their practical implementation. A key principle involved is balancing flow with molecular velocity in all other directions. The implementation of the LC set up involves volume control in the system and its eluted peaks. The implementation of the LC analyses involves making good choices in stationary and mobile phases as well as full proper control of critical system parameters such as mobile phase temperature (entering column). Application of the above concepts allows routine analyses of > 500 samples per day per LC (or LC–MS) operating at 7 mm/s
(5 mL/min, 5X “normal”), clearing ~ 9 column volumes per min (10X “normal”) and delivering peaks < 1 second wide. The direct result of this added capacity is the straightforward and scalable positive impact on turnaround times of existing analyses while conserving resolution (quality). 
The most popular combination includes one Inertsil ODS-3, 3 micron, 50 x 2.1mm (or 4.6mm) column and one Inertsil C8-3, 3 micron 50 x 2.1 (or 4.6mm) column, along with a standard set of fittings.  The Caloratherm heating unit is the same for all kit formats.  Additionally, GL Sciences supplies both PEEK and stainless-steel flow splitters for MS as items ordered separately from the kits.

The system is remarkably easy to set up and use, as briefly described in the "Installation is Easy!" The kit comes with a detailed instruction manual along with an exhaustive list of references on Fast LCMS (many of these documents can be downloaded at the "Theory and How-To" section.  Also, experts at GL Sciences are always available to provide advice or troubleshooting suggestions whenever requested by the customer via phone or email.


GL Sciences UltraFast Kits consist of Two high speed INERTSIL 3 micron HPLC Columns, a Caloratherm Active Eluent Preheating system, a complete set of pre-cut tubing and fittings for your choice of microbore, standard, or "Open-Access" HPLC systems, along with all the documentation and installation guides necessary to maximize your productivity with this unique system.

GL Sciences UltraFast Kits are easy to install, even if you are not "mechanically inclined." The precision pre-cut tubing the fittings delivered as part of the kit help ensure minimal system dead volume, and the the Caloratherm heater takes just a few minutes to install and configure.
